Momento de una entrevista con una modelo que conocí gracias a su trabajo con Alter Imago. Espero sea de su agrado la nota.

1. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cómo empezaste en el modelaje?

Mrs. Kushiki: Con un amigo que conocí en la prepa, él es fotógrafo y me pidió ayudarlo con unos proyectos de fantasía que tenía en mente y le dije que sí, hemos hecho varias fotos, tanto en exteriores como en interiores, es muy bueno y me gusta mucho su trabajo, luego decidí abrir mi insta relacionado a eso y de ahí me comenzaron a buscar más fotógrafos.

2. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Qué tipo de modelaje es el que practicas?

Mrs. Kushiki: Mayormente cosplay y artístico de caracterización, pero sí he realizado otro tipo de modelajes, como urbano, bosque, castinero, boudoir, bodypaint, etc.

3. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cómo te preparas para cada una de tus sesiones?

Mrs. Kushiki: Dependiendo del tipo de sesión preparo uno o varios outfits y reviso mi maquillaje, unas horas antes de la sesión me caracterizo y así me voy al estudio.

4. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuál es tu criterio para elegir las sesiones y personas con que trabajarás?

Mrs. Kushiki: Para elegir con quien trabajar, depende bastante de sí me late el trabajo del fotógrafo o editor y cual sea la idea que deseé trabajar conmigo, procuro siempre estar en la misma sintonía para crear personajes que nos gusten a ambos o, en su caso, realizar los cosplay de personajes que sean de nuestro agrado, para elegir las sesiones, normalmente me pongo de acuerdo con el fotógrafo para escoger el tipo de sesión o él me dice donde sería y yo busco el personaje que considere adecuado para la ambientación de la sesión.

5. Eternal Aesthetic: Hablando del cosplay, ¿Qué es lo que te inspira esto artísticamente para diferenciarlo del modelaje tradicional?

Mrs. Kushiki: Pues con la simple apariencia basta para diferenciarlo del modelaje tradicional, ja ja, pero también ayuda mucho con las poses, ya que puedes enfocarte en la personalidad del personaje para crear poses especiales e incluso usar ítems, relacionados con el mismo, que ayuden a que la fotografía sea todavía mejor.

6. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cómo te sientes al realizar un cosplay, hablando del proceso de elaboración de este?

Mrs. Kushiki: Honestamente, el pensar en hacer los trajes o las armas, si es que usan, me da mucha flojera, pero una vez que comienzo y voy viendo el avance me emociono imaginando como va a quedar y ya no paro hasta que termino o me canso, lo que suceda primero (ja ja) y con el maquillaje, normalmente solo lo practico una vez guiándome con alguna imagen del personaje que vaya a interpretar, a veces me gusta mucho el resultado y otras no tanto, pero se va perfeccionando y se siente muy bonito mirarse al espejo y ver a tu personaje en él, en lugar de verte a ti, siento que realmente logré lo que buscaba cuando no me parezco a mí en lo absoluto, porque mi idea es realmente transformarme en el personaje que tengo en mente, no solo disfrazarlo y si logro eso me doy por bien servida y quedo más que satisfecha con los resultados, aunque casi siempre busco mejorarlos cada vez.

7. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuál es tu aprendizaje al trabajar tanto en modelaje como cosplay?

Mrs. Kushiki: Pues he aprendido bastante sobre maquillaje artístico, también sobre costura y confección, siento que mis avances se notan y, tanto mis cosplay como los personajes que yo misma creo, se ven mucho mejor cada vez que los hago, incluso cuando realizo un personaje nuevo, se nota la diferencia de ese contra los primeros personajes que realicé.

8. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Te dedicas enteramente al modelaje?

Mrs. Kushiki: No, también soy abogada, actualmente soy abogada de uno de mis fotógrafos y también trabajo en el Instituto Politécnico Nacional.

9. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuáles son tus planes a corto, mediano y largo plazo?

Mrs. Kushiki: A corto plazo terminar varios cosplay que tengo pendientes, porque luego me harto de uno, cuando son muy laboriosos, y me voy con otro y así sin terminar (ja ja ja).

A mediano plazo crecer personal y laboralmente, tengo en mente mudarme de casa y acondicionar ahí mi propio estudio para hacer mis trajes y manualidades, así como un espacio de grabación y fotografía.

A largo plazo es realizarme profesionalmente como perito criminal y poder dejar el cosplay como hobbie 100%, delegando, quizás mis redes a otra persona, y enfocarme nada más en la creación de contenido, así como asistir a todos los eventos que me sean posibles. 

10. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuáles son tus principales pasatiempos?

Mrs. Kushiki: La lectura, ver series y jugar videojuegos.

1. Eternal Aesthetic: How did you get started in modeling?

Mrs. Kushiki: With a friend I met in high school, he is a photographer and asked me to help him with some fantasy projects he had in mind and I said yes, we have done several photos, both outdoors and indoors, he is very good and I really like his work, then I decided to open my insta related to that and from there I started looking for more photographers.

2. Eternal Aesthetic: What kind of modeling is it that you practice?

Mrs. Kushiki: Mostly cosplay and artistic characterization, but I have done other types of modeling, like urban, forest, castinero, boudoir, bodypaint, etc.

5. Eternal Aesthetic: Talking about cosplay, what inspires you artistically to differentiate it from traditional modeling?

Mrs. Kushiki: Well, the simple appearance is enough to differentiate it from traditional modeling, ha ha, but it also helps a lot with the poses, since you can focus on the character's personality to create special poses and even use items, related to the character, to help make the photograph even better.

6. Eternal Aesthetic: How do you feel when you make a cosplay, talking about the process of making it?

Mrs. Kushiki: Honestly, thinking about making the costumes or the weapons, if they are used, makes me very lazy, but once I start and I see the progress I get excited imagining how it will be and I don't stop until I finish or I get tired, whichever comes first (ha ha) and with the makeup, I usually only practice it once guiding myself with some image of the character I'm going to play, sometimes I really like the result and others not so much, I feel that I really achieved what I was looking for when I don't look like me at all, because my idea is to really transform myself into the character I have in mind, not just disguise it, and if I achieve that I am more than satisfied with the results, although I almost always try to improve them every time.

7. Eternal Aesthetic: What do you learn from working in both modeling and cosplay?

Mrs. Kushiki: Well, I have learned a lot about artistic makeup, also about sewing and dressmaking, I feel that my progress is noticeable and, both my cosplay and the characters I create myself, look much better every time I make them, even when I make a new character, you can see the difference between that one and the first characters I made.

8. Eternal Aesthetic: Are you entirely dedicated to modeling?

Mrs. Kushiki: No, I am also a lawyer, I am currently a lawyer for one of my photographers and I also work at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional.

9. Eternal Aesthetic: What are your short, medium and long term plans?

Mrs. Kushiki: In the short term to finish several cosplays that I have pending, because then I get tired of one, when they are very laborious, and I go with another and so on without finishing (ha ha ha ha). In the medium term to grow personally and professionally, I have in mind to move house and set up my own studio there to make my costumes and crafts, as well as a recording and photography space. In the long term is to realize myself professionally as a criminal expert and to be able to leave cosplay as a hobby 100%, delegating, maybe my networks to someone else, and focus only on creating content, as well as attending all the events that I can.

10. Eternal Aesthetic: What are your main hobbies?

Mrs. Kushiki: Reading, watching series and playing video games.

Ximena Romero: En una plaza del sur de la ciudad, un booker me captó y me invitó a colaborar en una agencia de modelos donde me hice mi primer book fotográfico a los dieciocho años.

2. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Qué tipo de modelaje es el que practicas? 

Ximena Romero: Editorial es mi favorito, pero también hago catálogos y foto publicitaria.

3. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cómo te preparas para cada una de tus sesiones?

Ximena Romero: Duermo muy bien, me tomo mi tiempo para estirarme, no desayuno, solo como una fruta o un batido de proteína vegana y listo.

4. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuál es tu criterio para elegir las sesiones y personas con que trabajarás?

Ximena Romero: Siempre trato de tener referencias para no ponerme en peligro, cuido mucho que el estilo del fotógrafo me guste y me haga sentir cómoda, evito a los fotógrafos que cosifiquen a las mujeres con su trabajo o que no vayan con mi estilo.

5. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Te dedicas enteramente al modelaje?

Ximena Romero: Tengo más diez años trabajando de modelo como un complemento de otras actividades profesionales que ejerzo. 

6. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuáles son tus planes a corto, mediano y largo plazo?

Ximena Romero: Seguir profesionalizándome y mejorando mi estilo y mi forma de expresar a través de mi cuerpo las emociones que quiero ver reflejadas en las fotografías que me toman.

7. Eternal Aesthetic: ¿Cuáles son tus principales pasatiempos?

Ximena Romero: Viajar, escuchar audiolibros y llevar a mis perritos a reservas naturales y parques.

Ximena Romero: I always try to have references so I don't put myself in danger, I'm very careful that I like the photographer's style and make me feel comfortable, I avoid photographers that objectify women with their work or that don't go with my style.

5. Eternal Aesthetic: Do you dedicate yourself entirely to modeling?

Ximena Romero: I have more than ten years working as a model as a complement to other professional activities that I practice. 

6. Eternal Aesthetic: What are your short, medium and long term plans?

Ximena Romero: To continue professionalizing and improving my style and my way of expressing through my body the emotions that I want to see reflected in the photographs I take.

7. Eternal Aesthetic: What are your main hobbies?

Ximena Romero: Traveling, listening to audiobooks and taking my dogs to nature reserves and parks.
